Online Seminar on “Best Practices on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education”

Date: 5 November 2024

Time: 9:00 to 11:00 CET (Central European Time, UTC+1)

Location: virtual

In the framework of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Education Process, the Expert Group on Digitalisation will host an online seminar on “Best Practices on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education”. The seminar will be jointly hosted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), chair of the EG Digitalisation, and the ASEM Education Secretariat.

The seminar will bring together the teacher and the student perspective, encouraging the exchange of practices and requirements regarding the use of AI in today’s teaching and learning (T&L). It aims to provide a cross-regional, eye-to-eye-level platform for debate on best practices and to foster mutual understanding. It thereby follows up on the more general discussions about AI in settings of higher education during the EG’s first online seminar “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Learning & Teaching in Higher Education” held in November 2023.

Confirmed speakers are Ts. Jonathan JS Kovilpillai from the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), Malaysia, and Prof. Dr. Carlos Delgado Kloos from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain, who will represent the teacher perspective during the public online seminar. Urszula Lis from the Warsaw University of Technology, Poland, will represent the European student perspective on behalf of the European Student’s Union (ESU) and Manan Singh of the O.P. Jindal Global University, India, will represent the Asian student perspective on behalf of the ASEAN Youth Organization (AYO). The seminar will be moderated by Ruben Janssens from Ghent University, Belgium.

The target group are university staff (teachers, administrators, managers) as well as students who are interested in open exchange on practical use of AI in higher education settings; other education stakeholders are equally welcome. Participation is free of charge.

The date of the online seminar will be 5 November 2024, from 9:00 to 11:00 CET. The language of the seminar will be English.
