Background information

Enhancing cooperation between the EU and ASEAN regions remains at the top of the agenda for the European Union (EU) and the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), who became Strategic Partners in 2020.

The ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) acknowledged this initiative for its alignment with the implementation of ASEAN Work Plan on Youth 2021-2025, particularly in fostering ASEAN awareness, values and identity through students/youth exchange and leadership programmes, in collaboration with youth from ASEAN Dialogue Partners.
