{"id":447,"date":"2019-07-11T16:24:24","date_gmt":"2019-07-11T14:24:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asem-education.org\/?p=447"},"modified":"2021-03-23T16:25:01","modified_gmt":"2021-03-23T14:25:01","slug":"85-asem-duo-india-fellowship-program-2020-professors-call-for-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asem-education.org\/news\/85-asem-duo-india-fellowship-program-2020-professors-call-for-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"ASEM-DUO India Fellowship Program 2020 (Professors) call for applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The ASEM DUO-India Fellowship Programme<\/strong>\u00a0has been recently established with the aim of promoting exchange of people between India and European countries on\u00a0<strong><em>a balanced and permanent\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>basis. DUO-India aims to fund every year, 50 Professor-pairs for exchanges for one month, starting from 2020 onwards aiming to provide mobility between Indian and European institutes. In this respect, DUO-India requires that a\u00a0<strong><em>PAIR (two persons)<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0of students be exchanged, and they should be from any of the collaborating institute (both Indian and European) under SPARC projects.<\/p>\n<p>For this program, only such institutes which are part of the Joint Research Projects under Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (<strong>SPARC<\/strong>) are eligible to participate. The list of eligible institutes (both Indian &amp; European) can be seen in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sparc.iitkgp.ac.in\/\">https:\/\/sparc.iitkgp.ac.in\/.<\/a>\u00a0As of now, 14 European countries namely\u00a0<strong>Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0UK<\/strong>\u00a0are part of SPARC programme.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Applicants must be\u00a0<strong>members of the academic or scientific staff\u00a0<\/strong>of institutes coming under the \u201cSPARC\u201d collaboration (i.e. they must be remunerated by the Higher Educational Institutes and it must be their main occupation).<\/p>\n<p>However, the following groups<strong>\u00a0are NOT entitled\u00a0<\/strong>for a fellowship:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students and PhD students;<\/li>\n<li>Professors emeritus, honorary professors;<\/li>\n<li>Teaching assistants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Exemptions are possible for the\u00a0colleges of arts.\u00a0The selection committee will assess on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>The Indian institute (Home institute) will\u00a0<strong><em>select<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>an\u00a0<em>Indian national<\/em>\u00a0professor of the Home institute to send to the European institute (Host institute), and such selection has been\u00a0<strong><em>accepted<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by the Host institute;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>The\u00a0<strong><em>same<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Host institute will select an\u00a0<strong><em>EU citizen<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0professor of the Host institute to be sent to the Home institute, and such selection has been accepted by the Home<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>N.B.: All applicants shall maintain their position at the time of application until the time they are engaged in exchanges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The exchange is done by pairs<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0one professor from Indian HEI is hosted by a European institutes and vice versa.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0exchange\u00a0must necessarily\u00a0<strong>take place<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>between the two same institutes<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>but does\u00a0not need to take place in the same time span<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>nor between two identical departments.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Duration and Fellowship<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>DUO-India 2020 is for exchange of professors between January and December 2020. The selection of DUO-India would be made\u00a0<b><i>only\u00a0<\/i><\/b>once a year. In this respect, those who are planning to exchange in 2020 shall apply for DUO-India 2020 within the timelines specified below.<strong>The duration of exchange should be at least one month<\/strong>. If an exchange period is longer than 1 month, fellowship will be given for 1 month and if an exchange period is less than 1 month (should not be shorter than 3 weeks),\u00a0<strong>the fellowship will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Application Period<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Applications will be accepted\u00a0<strong>from\u00a0<\/strong><strong>July 15 to September 30, 2019\u00a0<\/strong>local Indian time.
