{"id":2728,"date":"2022-02-28T05:20:10","date_gmt":"2022-02-28T03:20:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asem-education.org\/?p=2728"},"modified":"2024-02-12T17:30:14","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T15:30:14","slug":"call-for-applications-eu-and-asean-invite-young-leaders-to-take-part-in-shaping-the-future-of-eu-asean-relations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asem-education.org\/news\/call-for-applications-eu-and-asean-invite-young-leaders-to-take-part-in-shaping-the-future-of-eu-asean-relations\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Applications: EU and ASEAN invite young leaders to take part in shaping the future of EU-ASEAN relations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are pleased to announce the opening of the&nbsp;<strong>call for applications<\/strong>&nbsp;for the 2nd edition of the EU-ASEAN Young Leaders Forum, \u201c<em>Scenarios for the Future of EU-ASEAN Relations\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;#EUASEANYOUTH2022.<\/p>\n<p>Young people aged 20-35 from the European and Southeast Asian business communities, academia or civil society organisations can submit their candidacy online until 4th March and be part of an exciting programme which will run between March and October 2022. The online application form can be accessed through the following link:&nbsp;<strong>https:\/\/bit.ly\/euaylf22<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The programme will combine online and hybrid sessions, with a series of capacity building programmes run by renowned experts, where youth will develop skills for problem-solving through critical strategic thinking, teamwork, policy research and proposition.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will have the chance to make their voices heard by putting forward their proposals and taking part in shaping the future of EU-ASEAN relations.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Young Leaders from EU and ASEAN will present a set of strategic policy recommendations to Leaders at the EU-ASEAN 45th Anniversary Summit in late 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The Forum is organised in partnership with the ASEAN Foundation, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), College of Europe in Bruges and in Natolin, Asian Vision Institute and the New Horizon Project.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Enhancing cooperation between the EU and ASEAN regions remains at the top of the agenda for the European Union (EU) and the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), who became Strategic Partners in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) acknowledged this initiative for its alignment with the implementation of ASEAN Work Plan on Youth 2021-2025, particularly in fostering ASEAN awareness, values and identity through students\/youth exchange and leadership programmes, in
